AmSty Deepwater Loading Dock

Mississippi River Dock - Boh Bros. Construction

Project Description

Client: Americas Styrenics LLC
Location: St. James Parish, LA
Date of Completion: October 2015

The Challenge

Boh Bros. Construction recently completed a deep draft ship dock in the Mississippi River at St. James Parish, Louisiana for Americas Styrenics. The ship dock construction consisted of a loading platform, breasting dolphins, mooring dolphins, protection piles, catwalks, a 240’ elevated pipeway extending to the existing barge dock, and associated mechanical and electrical work. Additionally, the existing barge loading and unloading terminal at the site, which remained in operation throughout construction, required modifications and improvements to interface with the new deep draft ship dock. The 670-ft. long dock was built on the outside of the existing dock and can handle tankers up to 54,000 dead weight tons. Boh Bros. drove 48-inch diameter pipe piles upwards of 210’ long and completed the job in early October 2015, two months ahead of schedule.
